“Alexis Fleming is quickly gaining a reputation for sexy
stories with characters whose chemistry is off the charts!”
TwoLips Reviews

Alexis
Fleming is an accomplished author, beginning her writing career with
Changeling Press and now has multiple books with Samhain Publishing.
Besides Changeling Press and Samhain Publishing, Alexis is also
published with Total-e-bound E-Books.
When she isn't creating sizzling tales with a dash of comedy and a
few trials and tribulations throw in to test her characters, Alexis
helps her own personal hero run a large motel situated on the edge
of a national marine park in Australia.
Alexis writes sassy, fun erotic contemporaries as well as
paranormals and fantasies where you’ll find yourself coming face to
face with anything from sexy shifters to beings from other planets.

Alexis Fleming’s first book was a bedtime story for her children
called Sammy the Snail, written and illustrated totally in crayon.
She hooked her children in and created a new career for herself, a
career that gives her immense satisfaction and a lot of fun.
She now writes her own bedtime stories, but be warned - these are
strictly adults only!
A voracious reader, Alexis’ first love has always been romance,
whether on this world or the next. She was constantly in trouble at
school for hiding romance novels inside her text books when she
should have been studying.
It all paid off in the end. Now she turns her hand to erotic
romance, giving her readers a taste of the steamy side of love,
along with a dash of comedy.
With two grown children, Alexis is never without a sounding board
for her story ideas. A big thanks goes to her adoring daughter who
is never too busy to brainstorm or edit anything her mother has
written.
When she isn’t tied to her computer creating sizzling stories,
Alexis, along with her husband and a demon cat called Chloe, runs a
motel situated on the edge of a national marine park in Jervis Bay,
New South Wales, Australia.

What is your favorite color?
Red
What is your favorite pastime?
Reading and jewelry making.
What music do you listen to?
I love instrumentals, love the tone and blend of all the separate
musical instruments. I find it very relaxing. But when I want
up-beat? Give me that old time rock ‘n’ roll every time.
What is your favorite kind of movies?
I’m a sucker for anything that is the slightest big scary, whether
it be your standard thriller/horror flick or a science fiction world
with those elements.
What books do you like to read?
Too many to list. I devour book of all descriptions. Romance,
paranormal, thrillers. You name it, I’ve probably got it in my
keeper pile.
What are your favorite scenes to write?
I’m hooked on writing love scenes— the scents, the emotions, the
little caresses as well as the big ones, all those tiny details that
combine to turn a sex scene into a love scene.
Who are your favorite authors?
Once again, too many to mention, but if I had to pick a few? Nora
Roberts, Kim Harrison, Laurell K Hamilton, Keri Arthur, Kate Douglas
to name but a few.
What is your favorite genre to write?
For me it will always be romance, but when it comes to the
sub-genres? I love doing erotic romantic comedy, but I’m just as
taken with combining that with elements of the paranormal, whether
it be demons or shape shifters, or aliens from another planet.
What are your favorite books on writing?
I’m still building my how-to library, but I do have a few I seem to
go back to all the time. Ones like A Field Guide to Demons by Carol
K Mack and Dinah Mack, The Writer’s Complete Fantasy Reference,
Armed and Dangerous by Michael Newton, Body Trauma by David W Page.
And this is only the tip of the iceberg. If I mentioned all my
grammar and English Usage books, we’d be here all day. lol

Where do you
get your ideas?
Sometimes I’ll see something that will spark off a story idea so I
tuck it in the back of my mind and let it stew. More times than not,
I’ll suddenly realize I have the story mapped out in my head and
it’s time to start writing. Sometimes it’s something I’ve read in a
newspaper that brings a new idea to light, but I also dream up some
of my story ideas. I literally wake up in the middle of the night
with the idea and have to jump out of bed and go write it down,
because sure as eggs if I leave it until the morning, I will have
forgotten it.
What do you do in your spare time?
Running a motel as well as writing means I don’t have a lot of spare
time at the moment. When I do, though, I like to curl up with
someone else’s book. Alternatively, I’ll get out my jewelry making
kit and craft a new piece of jewelry or make book thongs to use as
giveaways.
Where do you imagine yourself in five years with your writing
career?
If we could determine what was to happen in the future, I’d like
to see myself New York published, my name up there with some of the
writers I love to read now. But we can’t pre-order the future, so in
the meantime, I’ll keep working towards this very goal, doing it the
hard way, one book at a time.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as an author?
Two things. Tenacity and discipline. If being a published author
is your goal, then you have to work at it. You have to keep at it,
and you have to be disciplined. Write every day, even if it’s
something you’ll delete on the following day. There’s something else
I’ve learned. Humility. I am just as humbled and grateful now when
book number ten or eleven comes out as I was when book one came out.
And I never forget it’s the readers who bought my books who have
taken me this far.
What advice can your give for an aspiring writer?
First and foremost, never give up your dream. And second, keep
writing, regardless of the rejections that may come your way. And
the final piece of advice? Read, read and then read some more.
